Roofing Rumors Debunked

Home construction has always been abuzz with rumors and myths. But is there any truth to them? What kinds of common roofing rumors are there? Worry not, because residential roofing expert Vista Roofing Inc. is here to confirm them for you!

New Roofs Don’t Require Maintenance

Just because you got a new roof doesn’t mean it won’t need any maintenance for a while. Roofs, just like any other part of your home, require constant maintenance to function optimally. Imagine getting a new car, and you don’t plan to clean it or put enough air in the tires for a while since it looked fine coming out of the car dealership. So make sure to care for your roof, as it will take care of you, 24/7.

Cheap Materials = More Savings

Saving on expenses by getting cheaper materials is one of the most prevalent roof maintenance myths out there, and it’s often not true. Cheap but reliable roofing materials do exist (like asphalt shingles), but most of the time, there are cheap and bad materials (like unspecified wood and building materials) that end up costing you more in the long run as they break down and degrade at a much faster rate than standard materials. Always consult with reliable contractors and dealers, and always perform preliminary research regarding them.

Do Repairs by Yourself

Unless you have a background in construction or have actual repairing experience, do not ever try to do repairs by yourself or with inexperienced companions. Not only does this put you and your friends at risk of physical harm, but it also endangers the structure of your roof. Faulty repairs can do more damage than good in the long run and will cost you even more in the future. So don’t try to save costs by watching a few ‘instructional’ videos then immediately going at the repairs by yourself.
